Whoopi Goldberg Says ‘Wearing White Lady Hair’ Is Cultural Appropriation 

Everything isn’t cultural appropriation if you ask Whoopi Goldberg.

During Thursday’s broadcast of ABC’s The View, the women weighed in on the now-defunct Pepsi commercial featuring 21-year-old model Kendall Jenner. The soda giant was accused of appropriating and trivializing the Black Lives Matter movement.

“It’s just a crappy idea, it didn’t work,” Goldberg said on April 6. “[But] this cultural appropriation stuff is really starting to make me crazy. If we’re gonna go with cultural appropriation, wear natural hair. If we’re wearing white lady hair, isn’t that appropriation as well?” Read More.

No one is wearing white lady hair so that’s settled.

I kind of get what she’s saying though. Weaves and wigs are made of indian or “brazilian” hair that’s straight or wavy like it’s miles away from the natural texture of african hair. Even though there are africans with that type of hair, if you dont and you borrow the natural hair of another ‘race’ and act as if it were yours then yea that is appropriation. Whoopie is owning her african hair like im owning it i dont have white/asian hair and thats not bad or good thats just my hair, and i think everyone can wear whatever hairstyle they want but just be consistent with the way you treat these things. (But that isnt white lady hair they’re using thats for sure lol)

No it’s not appropriation because black women get shit on no matter how we wear our hair and everyone wears wigs and weaves not just black women. Not to mention straight/blonde hair is not exclusive to white people.
