Diversity is not pandering. Diversity is realistic. Having an all white cast? That’s pandering.
Depends on the location. If it’s in the middle of Nebraska or somewhere with a high percentage of “white” people, then it’s realistic.
If it’s set in in medieval Europe or early Colonial America then it’s realistic.
If it’s in modern New York however….
High percentage does not mean all. Can yall not read or something. Also when it comes to fantasy and sci-fi stuff the demographics shouldn’t matter because pretty sure the demographics for mystical and alien creatures is non existent.
Not to mention directors do this in the opposite direction all the time. Having an all white cast in a racially diverse area. Or having a mostly white cast in an area with a specific demographic of PoC.
