when people say they’re socially liberal but fiscally conservative i always ask how fiscal issues aren’t intimately linked with social issues like how can you not think that the way money is handled isn’t directly linked to power and who has it so when you say you’re ‘socially liberal and fiscally conservative’ i just hear ‘i don’t want to out right look like a racist classist misogynist homophobe but i’m interested in keeping what’s mine and don’t want anything to structurally or institutionally change’
