I’m gonna stay mad about Poussey’s death until the world stops killing Black people, especially Black women, especially Black lesbians, and until White Sapphique Tumblr™ comes for OITNB for being racist, homophobic garbage that tells actual, real-life Black lesbians that their stories are bound to end in death and without justice

tell me why Lexa matters so much and Poussey apparently doesn’t. tell me why nobody even talks about Poussey anymore, ever.

so many of the responses to this are just “calm down” “she left to work on other shows” “the guy who killed her will be punished” and y’all are missing the damn point!!!

Poussey was about to be released anyway. they could have just fucking released her and let her go. as for the guy who killed her, didn’t the guy who killed Lexa get punished too? and y’all were still rightfully angry about that. victims of crimes like this deserve justice, but you’re still sending the message that there’s nothing wrong with the choice to kill off Poussey.

I am telling you that there are Black women in real life who are terrified that something like this will happen to them and you are telling them that they shouldn’t demand better treatment from a group of all-white writers who consider themselves “progressive” and “socially aware”.
