One frustration that I have with the Game industry is the fact that you have so many talented artists and writers who cold make great games if they had the support, education, and resources, but the industry is so insular that they don’t get that *in*. Unless you have connections and can grease the wheels you’re looking at having to have spent at least 5 years working on AAA titles before you’re considered, even for smaller studios. And if you don’t have resources you can’t make your own independent games and folks have a bad taste in their mouths over crowd-funding creative projects for obvious reasons. It is especially frustrating to be a woman of color in this field because they hire people who look like them and what they think their demographics are and they don’t usually consider you. So you see gamergaters who think diversity is “forced” and hate women who are able to break into the game industry and its just so frustrating when you know how much vetting *should* be involved and how hard it is for people like you to tell their own stories. .
