roseperfume:

it’s so tricky trying to find a balance between finding solace in numbers and not falling into stagnancy with your personal (mental, emotional, and physical) health & progress on here. like on one hand, i feel as if it’s comforting to know i’m not the only one experiencing problems with anxiety, depression, etc- however, people on here are VERY comfortable in their problems and don’t make small steps towards progress because we have built an entire online “culture” around being unhealthy in different ways, and have begun to characterize unhealthiness as something “relatable” and “fun”. no one feels the need to get better anymore because positivity seems foreign and “unrelatable”. when you start to put yourself in some of these communities it honestly becomes detrimental, mostly because these communities are not built on a vision of progress or even a false sense of optimism, but a deep seated desire to be someone who is relatable and, even if only implied, promotes becoming dormant in our sadness
