I didn’t know where else to submit this, but I haven’t seen it around tumblr so wanted to share it somewhere. I feel it’s important that people know that “liberal Scandinavia” has a lot of racism. Right wing extremists and neo-nazis have been on the rise for the last couple of years. This happened the night between Wednesday and Thursday at an elementary(!) school in Trondheim, Norway.

I feel like this is precisely why it’s important to address racism and to spread the word and have discourse about it. When we thin places are “untouchable” because there tends to be a lot of liberal and anti-racist sentiments in an area (like Seattle, London, etc) then we open the doors to racism rising surreptitiously ala Donald Trump style.

I’ve found swastikas outside of my daughters daycare. Everyone excuses it as it just being “edgy kids” but that’s exactly the fucking problem, isn’t it?

We’re all liberal and hygge here cause we’re Denmark and we don’t tolerate racism around children unless it’s children doing it and then it’s kids will be kids.

Call me an asshole but I don’t want my children learning these horrible racist behaviors even as they tut disapprovingly and do exactly jack shit to prevent it from happening in the first place.
