Black people are always expected to “rise above it” and be the “bigger person” but turning the other cheek all the time is exhausting. And it’s okay if sometimes you succumb to your anger, you shouldn’t feel bad about defending yourself. There would be nothing to defend if we weren’t sought out to be picked on. I don’t want to hear about our reactions when no one condemns those who attack us.
