These folk are probably professionals in cushy positions, business owners or public employees.

The image of the alt-right as a bunch of poor, uneducated, southern whites serves both to downplay the very real threat that alt-right ideology poses by reducing it to “some crazy shit that only idiots could believe”, and to reinforce the stigma that all poor southern whites hold those beliefs, both of which are harmful to anti fascist goals.
