Buy chicken leg quarters and take them home, cut them up and portion them out.. lasts a while and it’s cheap.
Get on youtube and learn how to make a few foolproof meals
Get rice in bulk and learn how to cook it (the water should be an inch above the rice.. no matter how much rice ur cooking)
Work ur way up
Chicken breasts cook quick and can be used in various dishes
WASH YOUR MEAT EITHER WITH VINEGAR OR LEMON/LIME BEFORE SEASONING AND COOKING
Get a crock pot if u have the money.. u cant go wrong with that imo
Find the motivation to cook, get online, and soak up the info. You’ll need it one day if not now.
annddd i still dont know how to cook thanks
Youtube/ google/ pinterest and a will to learn.
I have to perfect my rice, but YouTube (and cooking blogs) are definitely where to go.
How i cook plain white rice:
Water should be an inch above the rice no matter how much rice ur cooking (stick ur thumb in it.
The tip of your thumb should touch the surface of the rice and the water should stop at the knuckle on ur thumb).Turn the stove on high, let it come to a boil, stir with a FORK (spoons mash rice) and turn down on low.
Watch it till it’s done ☺
Much appreciated 😊
U know im here to help ✨
maybe this is a silly question, but does anyone know any sites or cookbooks where there’s a picture for each step?
my learning disability really fucks with my understanding portions and proportions and shit never turns out right.
Help!!
@iwilleatyourenglish foodwishes is really good i for beginners it’s in video format (its on youtube and they have a website) and the chef is named John and he’s really informative and shows all steps
‘ppreciate that fam
Don’t stir rice in the pot. Just let it cook
I stir rice all the time to fluff it before you turn the fire off
Depends on the family and culture I guess
Yasssss. This!! 🙌🏾 I didn’t know about the fork thing tbh.
You’re right about the family thing though, in my family my mom taught us to wash the rice twice until the water was clear in between boils.I never heard of that tbh
Mad just wash the rice till it’s clear and then boil it with butter and salt
Marinating meat the night before saves time. When you go grocery shopping, clean and cut up veggies you may buy and put them in gallon bags. That way all you have to do is grab the portion you want when its time to cook and you don’t have to chop and clean every time you cook.
You so damn smart
frozen veggies are cheap and cooked. If you buy a frozen bag and keep it in the fridge, all you have to do is microwave it with the rest of the leftovers, no cooking required
potatoes and pasta are easier than rice and are a good carb base for saucy foods. Rice results depend on you stove, the quality of your pots, and what you add to it. It may take a few tries to figure out what works for your set up.
its ok to start with seasoning mixes/packets. Just don’t do salts (ie season salt, garlic salt)
They’re mostly salt so its easy to over season.375 is a pretty reasonable temperature to roast things (veggies and meats). It may not come out perfect, but should come out edible. And just about everything tastes better roasted.
Foodwishes it great. Start with recipes for stewed meats. They are the simplest and he shows you how to make it come out delicious.
So does the rice one inch rule apply to Minute Rice as well? I ask because so many times, try as I might, I end up with disgustingly soggy minute rice.
Just buy real rice, my love. I’ve never touched minute rice tbh so idk how it will behave, but if you go to Walmart or something, a 20lb bag is about $11. Cook it in bulk and store it in the fridge
Microwave your portion with a damp paper towel over it and ta da!!
