like anyone else i hate to do this

i have a cool five (5) cavities in my mouth that need filling, i found out this week. the worst cavity is in my front tooth and hyper visible (as well as causing me pain), so i need to get it fixed so i can look for better paying work that doesn’t also stress my knee, which likely has a torn mcl that i currently can’t afford to have treated. and while my fiancee is helping me with some of the cost of the dental work, i need help with the rest. 

part of the reason this cost is so unbearable is because i have been saving for a better apartment, without which i won’t be able to live with my fiancee. my lease is up at the end of november, which is very soon. i cannot dip into my savings for this, and my savings are still not high enough to cover the projected cost of leasing a 2br apartment in nyc.

i had my first of three appointments today, and i stopped to have a talk with the receptionist about the estimated cost to double check. i don’t understand what changed, but i asked for a copy of the document he had and the short story is that this work is probably going to cost much more than i anticipated, especially with the massiveness of my front tooth cavity that got fixed today. 

in addition to everything i listed off in my original post above, my medical insurance payments are going up because the insurance company i’ve had this year is closing, and the new options offered at work are both more expensive. i have tried to make extra money faster by offering some of my wares to a local shop for wholesale, but i haven’t heard back, so it may be a no-go. 

in light of everything, i am now looking to raise $1000. i am so humbled and grateful for everyone who’s donated to or purchased from me so far, and to everyone who’s reblogged and made my post so visible. i haven’t hit my original goal yet but i’m hopeful.
