apparently neo yokio has a line about coco chanel and they add “may her memory be a blessing” which is extremely fucked up considering coco chanel was a nazi sympathizer and “may [their] memory be a blessing” is an explicitly hebrew/jewish phrase so like … can goyim reblog this and make people at least aware of stuff like this because i haven’t seen a single post about it

This is definitely something to be aware of, but I don’t think it’s a problem with the show itself. The show already has some pretty clumsy writing and it was definitely in poor taste… However, it’s something to be aware of about Kaz himself.

Kaz is not a sympathetic character. If you weren’t horrified by the throwaway lines, or the way he treats his friends especially during the episode where Lexy and Gottlieb got changed by the water, or how he treats his butler sometimes, or his fixation on expensive and materialistic things, then well… what’s the point of Kaz’s character arc?

So the throwaway line right there, while awkward in writing, kind of goes to show how ignorant he is. The nice thing  is a lot of the time people don’t approve of Kaz’s actions and he doesn’t get away with a lot of things even if he ‘saves the day.’

I dunno, I wanna see how my friends @mythandlaur and @ian-noble think of it, if they’ve watched Neo Yokio or not. Is it a character thing or just really, really bad writing on an unsympathetic character?

I haven’t watched but I’d bet my left arm they legitimately did not know that. There’s a clear divide between “facts that are common knowledge on tumblr” and “facts known everywhere else”, and from what Ive observed, “Coco Chanel was a Nazi” is in the former. What I’d advise doing is having people POLITELY tweet Jaden Smith with this information. Don’t stop watching or harass him because he probably didn’t know something Tumblr does.

^^^ i agree. contrary to what many think, the post was literally to be like “hey, this was a Yikes Act so be aware of it while you watch and keep an eye out for similar things”. not to sit there and talk about the scope of chanel’s nazi activity or to lead a witch hunt on the creators. i’m very aware koenig is jewish, which everyone seems to think i’m completely oblivious to, the post was legit just to be like “hey, stay aware of stuff like this because it’s not okay”.
