“Diverse media is treated with a harsher lens than everything else” Probably because we’re assuming if you took the time to include us you’d do the bare minimum which is treat characters like us with respect and how dare we be upset when that doesn’t happen

A lot of different people have gotten a lot of different things from this and had a lot of (bad/unrelated) commentary on this post. So allow me to elaborate this on a way that I have not before.

• This is post is in direct response to a post calling The McElroys (when they got in trouble in June), Rebecca Sugar (a repeated racist content creator), and Andrew Hussie (I don’t have enough time to list why this man is shitty please look it up for yourself there’s so much) inherently good people for creating diverse content. All three of these creators are white and are not hurting for internet defenders no matter how much racist content any of them produce.

• This post is about racist white content creators being allowed to have almost completely free range with how racist they are in their media without people really caring how many people of color get hurt in the process.

• This post has absolutely nothing to do with purity culture, but since all of you want it to be about that. I never said that and now pedophiles and rape apologists are using the commentaries on this post to do whatever they want. Furthermore purity culture as a concept is stupid because no is saying you can’t make things with dark themes literally almost every gay person I have ever met adores The Handmaiden which features incredibly dark themes, asking people not to be racist, homophobic, or transphobic isn’t purity culture it’s common decency.  

• This post is not about Wonder Woman, though it absolutely could absolutely could be included in the above list because Wonder Woman is an almost completely white imperialist romp featuring white women. Though in my opinion Atomic Blonde is a better example of what this post is about because Atomic Blonde is a racist spy movie that people were going to look of the death of a woman of color to see a white character be involved with other women despite it being in the trailer. 

• This post is in no fucking way about “well you can’t satisfy everyone so we should be happy with one aspect” stop asking lgbtpoc to be satisfied with racist content and piss poor rep because you want a white gay character.

• Furthermore this post is not at all about “you should watch this genre because it representation in it” because it was literally never about that and I have no idea how that came up, but make your own posts if you wanna discuss that.
