Okay often times when a gay fan is saying bts is gay it’s because of representation. It’s not meant in malice or to hurt of fetishize it’s because they see attributes of themselves in certain idols and put that “label” on them.

Most of the times (I’m saying most.) when a straight fan says bts is gay it’s because they apply it to a ship. And the whole ‘omg oppas Gay jikook is real’ things is very bothersome to gay fans because it’s only really seen as a ship. Don’t get me wrong I love ships, but when they’re done right and people acknowledge that all ships are fake until the idols themselves come out and say ‘were a couple’. There’s a lot of toxicity in shipping culture and some heterosexual people forget that actual gay lives exist and we don’t want to be treated like we’re some form of entertainment. I really don’t give fuck if straight people ship as long as they’re not bringing in pedophillia, abusive relationships and other toxic themes into gay relationships because you love angst when there’s already stigma and stereotypes surrounding the gay community and our relationships.

What I’m really trying to get at here is that: as a community gay people are trying to find representation and people we can look up to and relate with, straight people entering a conversation about possibly gay idols is bad. Like if there was a discussion going on about people who own pet snakes and put hats on them you wouldn’t come and say I don’t own a pet snake or have hats for it but I think they look better in scarves, snakes and scarves are my favorite.

TLDR; with shipping culture being so fetishy we keep our guard up when you say they’re gay cause we assume you’re going to start talking about your ship and possibly disregard actual gay people and the fact that we’re not entertainment.
