People are responding to the cdc being banned from using the word transgender by being like oh no now the cdc can’t talk about lgbt issues. Like. … they didn’t ban lesbian, gay, or bisexual so why are you using the acronym for this context? Be honest about when trans people are being specifically targeted

Let’s be clear that trans folk are being specifically targeted.  

Let’s also be clear that trans folk are being specifically targeted because this is seen as a wedge issue in the way that going after LGB folk was seen as a wedge issue 10-20 years ago.

Let’s also be clear that this is the first stage of a multiphased attack on all LGBT people.
