Holy Trinity Of Terrible Gay Narratives As Written By Straight People

bigskydreaming:

1) Straight best friends know a person is gay or bi before they know themselves, because CLEARLY that gay or bi person is just super slow on the uptake and their refusal to admit to themselves or others that they’re not straight has absolutely nothing to do with a toxic society doing everything in its power to make them feel they shouldn’t be.

2) The most homophobic bully or antagonist facing the gay or bi characters is actually gay or bi themselves, because didn’t you know, LGBTQ+ people are actually our own worst enemies, there’s really no such thing as homophobes who are homophobes because they’re just straight douchebags who hate people who aren’t like them.

3) No coming out narrative is complete without at least one scene where the gay or bi individual in question reassures their straight friends or family that it wasn’t that they waited this long to tell them cuz they didn’t trust them, because LOL why would this pivotal, life-changing, life-defining moment in a gay or bi character’s narrative be JUST about them when it could also be about the straight characters around them? Aren’t their feelings about this moment that will shape the entire rest of the gay/bi character’s life just as important here?
