can everyone on this site stop taking star wars so seriously? ive seen so much discourse and hate on my timeline it’s unbelievable. it’s literally a fucking fantasy soap opera where people fight with light up sticks and theres a lot of angst/side romances. stop comparing kylo ren to nazis and saying the movie is racist, leave the real life actors alone, and don’t bring politics into this. stop demonizing ships just because you don’t like it. people come onto tumblr and write predictions and metas and draw fan art because it’s FUN. star wars is for everyone to enjoy so sit your ass down and stop ruining the experience.

so that brings us to the new trilogy. if you’re saying star wars isn’t political after all that then you have no idea what star wars is about. star wars is ABOUT rebels. it’s about radicals fighting against an oppressive empire. always has been, probably always will be.
the first order??? just like the empire, they’re literal fascists. the imagery of hux performing his speech emphatically in front of all the first order flags, surrounded by his loyal troops who salute him??? that’s literal nazi imagery, and they did it on PURPOSE. jj abrams knew it when he wrote it. domhnall gleeson knew it when he took the part and played the scene. he plays hux like the irredeemable piece of shit he is and makes sure in every interview that the whole world knows that he hates his character just as much as the audience does. everyone who was involved in the film knew it.
kylo is a part of that regime. he is a part of this authoritarian empire, and he chose to be a part of it willingly. by ignoring that, you’re losing the plot of the entire franchise, the vision of countless screenwriters, authors, artists, directors, crew-members, animators, and actors. you’re disrespecting their work and disrespecting the importance of the sociopolitical climate of star wars, which is what the entire franchise has always revolved around. revolution is political. tyranny is political. i don’t know how you managed to miss something so obvious or how you’re able to ignore it, but it’s a talent. congratulations, truly.
star wars is so much more than a “fantasy soap opera”. it’s a political statement about radical antifascist action and it always has been. don’t degrade the message of these films the same way you degrade rey and daisy, please.
Real writing tip that is actually really really important: SAVE BACKUPS of your work!!! Email yourself the file every few weeks or so!!!!! I had five book drafts and a completed manuscript and a query letter and now my computer is completely dead! Thankfully though, I had emailed myself the files just a week before it happened!
