The trope of the “crazy” girlfriend is so prevalent and joked about now, that girls getting into relationships are so worried about seeming imposing, that they do not speak out about things that make them uncomfortable, and are forced to let their boyfriends emotionally manipulate them into normalizing otherwise inappropriate behavior. They do not speak up, and then are faced with dealing with an uncomfortable situation for so long, which can really affect their self esteem and emotional health. “Jokes” aren’t always jokes, especially at the expense of women. They are usually integrated into people’s thinking to the extent that they truly affect people’s opinions of women and the way they see them.
a 90’s kid? don’t you mean sad adult?
70,000 people have reblogged this but no one is trying to defend themselves
There is nothing to defend
#i read a post once that described 90s kids as the generation of nostalgia #because so much technological advancement happened in such a rapid timeframe when we were growing up #that we can clearly remember having technologies that are now obsolete #like going from a corded hugeass phone to a small computer in your pocket just within our formative years is a major thing #and it sparks a nostalgia for our seemly ‘simpler’ childhoods #because so much rapid development makes it seem like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was (x)
This is the most solid explanation of our decade I have ever heard.
not to sound like an evil and monstrous brown woman but i will never have any empathy for white women and white lgbt people who join the ranks of fascists. i don’t give a single fuck if they face misogyny or homophobia in their political circles. that’s what you get for aligning with your whiteness to enhance your own position in society. and if this makes me sound like a terrible, loveless person, then so fucking be it. no one forced them into brutalizing or hating people of color and jewish people.
*Muslim teens get literally harassed and murdered because they’re muslim*
Media: “There is no evidence that indicates that this was a hate crime.”
It’s also because she was black it’s really funny how nonblack Muslims will ignore that aspect of her
I’ve seen quite a few posts circulating that cite the UNDHR as a tool that can be used to fight the repeal of net neutrality and although it exists, it can’t be used to actually do anything.
The United States may have signed the UNDHR, but they did not ratify it, meaning that it isn’t legally binding. As it is not legally binding, citizens can not seek recourse by invoking the clause that declares the internet as a human right.
The United Nations is in no way some international government, it cannot impede state sovereignty. Therefore, it cannot interfere in this battle. Other countries can try and deter the US from repealing net neutrality through their foreign policy, but frankly, it would actually hurt their economies more given the hegemony that the United States exercises over the international system.
However, when contacting your representatives, you can invoke something like the US Constitution. Article 1 of the Constitution is about protecting free speech in public spaces and the internet counts as a public space. Telling your representatives that repealing net neutrality would violate your constitutional rights might make them more inclined not to vote for it.
