lets start oppressing 30+ year old fandom moms who claim its sexism and “ageism” when people tell them to stop surrounding themselves with children
Adults have as much of a right to be a part of fandom as you.
Stop trying to make it seem like older folks stay in fandom for creepy reasons.
Literally fuck off, I’m not even in a fandom or 30+ but you’re sounding like a shitty little asshole and are the reason I hate fandom culture in general.
Block adults you don’t like.
Don’t try to fucking bully them out of a space you think you’ve a special right to own.
Shithead.
why do you find the statement of “its weird for 30 year olds to surround themselves with middleschoolers” to be so controversial quinn
Sis, being in your 20s and surrounding yourself with middle/school aged kids is weird af. Why do people throw a big ass fucking fit when you point out that there needs to be boundaries in place when adults are in fandom spaces?!?!? Shouldn’t you, as an adult, want to protect kids from creepers?!?!?!
Let me make this clear here. It’s actually impossible to hoard millions in personal fortune and also live an ethical life.
Some people are taking this as a personal attack against their families, who make something in the six figure range. This post is not about you. In full scale, families like that are not what I’d consider to be “wealthy”.
I’m talking about the multi-millionaire/billionaire CEOs, politicians, and media moguls. This isn’t about your uncle who’s a surgeon and saves people’s lives. Please don’t misinterpret that. They’re not nearly on the same scale of “wealthy”.
But if your uncle is the head of a multinational corporation that utilizes cheap overseas labour and exploits third world countries, fuck that guy actually.
A common comment I receive about cultural appropriation is, “Well, PoC in X country don’t find cultural appropriation offensive so why do PoC in the U.S.?” Here is my response:
Glad to finally have a post like this without people yelling at how only voices from Japan matter.
Also, no one wants to talk about how whiteness (and proximity to whiteness) is a big thing in countries outside of the US. White Supremacy is global, sis.
Why isn’t using sign language more common in society? like??? Not even just communicating within deaf communities but for everybody to use with anybody?
I feel like this should be standard learning material for those working in loud workplaces or with machinery, or maybe idk for talking underwater or when someone else can’t hear you at a concert. Or what about when somebody is having a panic attack and can’t talk, or just isn’t all that comfortable with voicing their feelings?
Why isn’t nonverbal communication more integrated into our society? Cause it should be.
Several influential people of the time, including Bell, viewed deafness as something that should be eradicated, and also believed that with resources and effort they could teach the deaf to speak and avoid the use of sign language, thus enabling their integration within the wider society from which many were often being excluded.[64]

I’m actually really glad someone read my quick tags on that post. Because lots of people don’t have a clue about this stuff.
In fact, before Bell, there were a few towns that used mostly sign (Martha’s Vineyard, most notably) to communicate, regardless of hearing ability. The U.S. used to be a lot more sign friendly before the rise in the eugenics movement.
Woah
Bring It Back!
Adding to the list of situations it’s Super useful: backstage, it’s a Life Saver.
eugenics make you function less efficiently and its a feature, not a flaw
here on tumblr i get people getting mad at me daily for my deeply controversial opinions such as “pedophilia is bad”, “30 year olds who hang out with children half their age are creepy”, and much more
