Here’s the thing, tho – absolutely no one is stopping you from having ur m/f ships. In fact, I don’t know anyone in fandom (who isn’t a gross cishet shipper, mind you) who doesn’t have at least one m/f ship. Sure, people like to crack jokes about m/f ships (because 90% of them are unnecessary and forced), but no one is rly coming at anyone sideways over a ship like that.
I read something earlier today that said smth along the lines of “straight boys use f*ggot to gender police straight boys who they see as feminine and most say they wouldn’t use it against gay peers”
Like 1) you believed straight boys on their usage of homophobic slurs
2) as if gay men aren’t seen as less than/not men which establishes the use of f*ggot as an effective means to police masculinity because by accusing another boy of being a f*ggot, you establish yourself as an arbiter of masculinity keeping you safe from being accused of being a f*ggot
