In case you still buy into the notion of the Allies as the ultimate saviors of Jewish people during World War II, it should be noted that the city of Algiers was captured by a group of Jewish rebels who, after the city was returned to French rule, were imprisoned and sent to concentration camps and the Allies did not lift a finger to help them. Nor did the Allies shut down the concentration camps run by the French government until six months after they were supposedly liberated. Nor did the Allies return citizenship to the Algerian Jews who lost it until over a year later.
