theres multiple subcategories of “pretentious male indie music/art guy” but i think theres two main categories, which are:

  1. “pretentious but overall kind and friendly. he might have an inflated view of himself and he talks too much so he’s a little annoying, but he seems well intentioned and is appreciative of other people’s work as well as his own so you cant feel any real animosity” 
  2. “pretentious and a complete douchebag. he actually sucks ass at whatever he does, all his work is mediocre and derivative, but he thinks he is better than everyone else. never shuts up. every moment youre near him youre struggling to stop yourself from kicking him”
